Goal 13: Climate Action

Climate change presents the single largest threat to sustainable development everywhere, It has widespread, unprecedented impact and disproportionately burdens the poorest and most vulnerable. The increasing global temperatures, changing weather patterns, melting glaciers and rising sea levels, makes life more vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods, droughts, tsunamis, and cyclones. Urgent action to halt climate change and deal with its impacts is integral to the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals

Tamil Nadu has witnessed an increase of about 1.5o C to 1o C, in maximum and minimum temperatures during 2015 and 2016. In terms of rainfall, the State has witnessed an increase in rainfall during the period 2013 to 2015. However, there is a decrease in annual rainfall in 2016.
