Almost 50% of the world’s population comprises of women and girls. Empowering them has a multiplier effect on the economy as they are able to take more informed social and economic decisions about themselves, their family and next generation.

SDG 5 aims to end all discrimination against women and girls and ensure equal access to health and education, equal opportunities for employment and equal rights for economic resources.

Tamil Nadu performs well on several aspects of gender equality and women empowerment.
